LIMITED EDITIONS
Limited Editions are defined as having a limited number of copies printed. Copies are often hand-numbered (or lettered) and are usually signed by the author(s) on a Statement of Limitation page. The Limitation page should indicate the total number of copies printed in the edition and the number of the present copy in the sequence. Limited Editions are often, but not always, issued with a slipcase. It should also be noted that a Limited Edition may not be the true first edition. Easton Press editions are often printed after the true first editions. The attraction of Limited Editions, besides the superior bindings in leather or other exotic materials, is they're often printed with supplemental materials that weren't present in the trade editions: Original paintings (frontispiece and/or jackets), interior illustrations, extra ornamentation like gilt edges or comments by the author(s).
All Limited Edition books are hardcover first edition, first printings unless stated otherwise.
