The true first edition, this is the first appearance for this Sturgeon collection of ten stories. One tiny, (2.0 cm in length) closed tear at bottom edge of front jacket panel, very minor wrinkling at top and bottom of edge jacket panel, with blank owner's bookplate fixed to front free endpaper, else near fine copy in a near fine jacket (not price-clipped). First hardcover edition collecting stories originally published in various magazines during the 1950's, including the excellent "The Golden Helix" published in Thrilling Wonder Strories (1954). Includes a two-page introduction and introductory notes for all the stories by Sturgeon. Two panel, classic SF jacket illustration by Tony Gleeson.
