Hardcover first edition, first printing. Not a remainder nor ex-library copy. Heavy scuff mark on side edge of textblock with moderate age-related soiling. Slight indication of front board separation from spine. Jacket shows minor wear at corners and bears two closed tears, 2.0 cm and the other 1.0 cm in length, at bottom edge of front panel. A well-preserved, but handled copy of a book that was the first to compile the vast world of Middle Earth. Interior black and white illustrations by Kevin Reilly.
