Williamson, Jack
Nelson Doubleday, 1979,

Book Club (BCE/BOMC), Hardcover, Fine, Near Fine. Book. Woolhiser, Jack
Book Club Edition, first printing. First printing code #J47 on page 535 and code #3591 on rear jacket flap. Maroon boards with black lettering on spine. Omnibus, collects The Legion of Space (1947) The Cometeers (1950) and One Against the Legion (1950), all originally published in pulp magazines before being published in hardcovers by Fantasy Press. The interesting collecting point about this BCE is it also collects in hardcover for the first time the novella "Nowhere Near" another Legion of Space story, which was first published in pulp magazine and strangely was not listed in the Contents page of the BCE. Aside from some scuffing along the bottom edges of the boards and light age-related wear at the top edge, the boards and page block are square, bright and without marks. Excellent condition for this book club. The jacket has light crinkling at top and bottom corners of the spine panel with one small, closed tear (2 cm in length) at the bottom edge of rear jacket panel. Aside from these defects, the jacket is bright, intact and without chipping.

But Lander's repeated trips to NDF brings something back with her, and opens a door unknown to anyone. "[M]asterfully blends tragedy, humor, and fear in an unforgettable meditation on humanity and death." - Therese Littleton, Amazon (May, 2001). "The book's multiplying internal and external mazes provide an emblem of human complexity, foolishness, and deeper terrors, some reaching from beyond death." - Locus, May 2001.
