Guild America Books, 1994, 1568651015 / 9781568651019

Book Club (BCE/BOMC), Hardcover, Near Fine, Near Fine. Book. Kelly, Ken
Book Club edition, first printing and first hardcover edition. Code #03994 on rear jacket. Not a remainder or ex-library copy. Jacket is scuffed in places, but otherwise intact without tears. A near fine copy in near fine jacket without previous owner's marks. Introduction by Mike Resnick. Collection of eight stories (one original to this collection), featuring Maureen "Muffy" Birnbaum, transported out of the shopping mall into various barbarian worlds, including Barsoom, Pellucidar and the Horseclans among others. (Effinger added later adventures and placed Maureen into these universes at request of their creators). A very fun spoof of the classic sword and sorcery genre. The start of each story features a full-page black & white illustration spoofing the iconic Frank Franzetta illustrations. Award History: 1994 Locus Poll Award Nominee for Best Collection (lost to Impossible Things by Connie Willis).
