Jacket is chipped at top and bottom of spine panel, two closed 3cm vertical tears at bottom edge of jacket, "91335" inscribed by previous owner on rear panel, and spots, possibly from a spill, on front and side jacket panels. Although the jacket for this copy is poor, the copy itself in in fine condition. Not leaned, not remainder nor ex-library. A clean, straight copy for book this age. A great copy for a collector wanting to marry a fine copy with a better jacket.

All first US hardcover editions were published as book club editions until HarperCollins took over publishing with Small Gods, the 12th novel. All first printing points present: printing code #18037 on rear panel and black boards with gold lettering on spine and the NAL imprint on spine; "Jacket art by Doug Andersen" printed on rear flap, cover is also shows the artist's signature. The page block shows some moderate scuffing on the bottom edge, else a straight, square copy. Jacket has a triangular closed tear (4cm x 2cm) at bottom edge of rear jacket near the spine. Some very light chipping at tips, else jacket is clean and intact and without the usual clipping. Unusual to find these older Pratchett book club in collectible condition as they are usually "loved" to pieces by fans of the series.
